By default, the cPanel File Manager hides "dotfiles" which includes .htaccess files. This can cause issues if you are moving files or attempting to customize your site settings.
To show these files in the cPanel File Manager, first open File Manager. You can be in any folder to change this setting, and it will take effect across all folders in your hosting account.
- Click on the Settings button in the top right corner of the File Manager. Hint: it should have a picture of a gear.
- In the Preferences section that opens, check the "Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)" option.
- Click Save.
