The default PHP version on new web hosting accounts is PHP 8.4. This is the latest release and is recommended for most users.
However, if you need to use an older PHP version, we support the following additional versions:
- 8.3
- 8.2
- 8.1
- 8.0
- 7.4
If you need an even older version of PHP, there are a few options:
- Upgrade your software. We understand that there may be a significant investment here, but if your script, app, or website requires an ancient PHP version, it may be time to replace it or update it.
- Consider one of our managed cloud servers. We can customize the PHP versions available for you.
How to Change PHP Version
To adjust the version of PHP your hosting account is using, log into cPanel. The cPanel login is available through your client area or in the welcome email you received when you signed up for our hosting service.
In cPanel, in the Software category, go to the Select PHP version page. This will open CloudLinux PHP Selector. This may take a moment to load. Once it loads, you can select from the list of available PHP versions.
Once you have selected the suitable PHP version, you can customize the modules. If you are changing the PHP version, be sure to select the one you want, and then hit Apply, before attempting to customize the modules. Once you have selected and applied the correct version, you can check or uncheck PHP modules. You do not need to hit Apply after customizing the modules, it saves in real time.
If at any time you wish to go back to the native PHP version, select the version from the list that says (native), and click Apply. Keep in mind you can't customize the modules available for the native PHP version. If you need a module that isn't available in the native version, please contact our support and will assist you.
